It is estimated that ticks exceed all other arthropods in the number and variety of diseases that they can transmit.

 

Tickborne diseases are some of the leading insect vector-borne diseases in the world, and they seem to be on the rise.

 

Tickborne diseases are second only to mosquito-borne illnesses for spread of disease around the world.

 

Mosquito-borne diseases are the most common cause of death (mortality) and disease (morbidity) on earth.

A common complaint and general nuisance is head congestion with its accompanying stuffiness and ear fullness, brought on by allergies, hay fever, colds, sinus infections, and ear infections. Individuals frequently seek medical help because of the head pain and congestion. They are hoping that an antibiotic will cure the infection and relieve the discomfort. If the cause is a bacterial infection (which it rarely is), then an antibiotic will help over several days. But, since this is rarely the case, the antibiotics usually do not help, and the patient slowly recovers on their own.
